Fred Stringfellow, CAE
President

Fred Stringfellow has over 20 years of experience in association management. In 2000, Stringfellow co-founded KSG; in 2012 Stringfellow created Stringfellow Management Group, as a successor organization to KSG. Stringfellow currently serves as Executive Director of the American Sports Builders Association (ASBA), and Wood Machinery Manufacturers of America (WMMA); and Management Liaison to the National States Geographic Information Council (NSGIC) and Web Sling and Tie Down Association (WSTDA).

Stringfellow was awarded ASAE's Certified Association Executive (CAE) designation in 1998, and has been recertified every three years since that time. He currently serves on the AMC Key Committee and is a past chair of the AMC Section Council for the American Society of Association Executives.

Stringfellow is a graduate of the Institute for Organization Management at the University of Delaware; is a past Chairman of the Board of the AMC Institute; is a past president of the Maryland Society of Association Executives; is a past president of the Stoneleigh Community Association; and is a past chair of the Association Management Section Council for the American Society of Association Executives. He currently serves as Chairman of the Board for the AMC Institute; serves on the Board of Directors for the Tennis Industry Association; and serves on the Customer Advisory Board for Visit Baltimore.

Amy Chetelat, CAE
Chief Financial Officer

Amy Chetelat, CAE is experienced in both corporate accounting and association management, and is responsible for SMG's financial operations as well as the financial management of all of SMG’s clients. In her role as SMG's Chief Financial Officer, Chetelat is responsible for all areas of accounting and financial management for SMG and all its clients. In addition, she is responsible for client investment management, audit and tax return preparation and information technology. Chetelat is supported by an accounting manager, senior staff accountant and three accounting assistants SMG's Financial Department.

Chetelat holds a Master of Business Administration and earned her Certified Association Executive (CAE) designation from the American Society of Association Executives in 2003 and has been recertified every three years since that time. She is an active member of ASAE and a former member of the Finance Section Committee. She is a past president of the Maryland Society of Association Executives. Before becoming President of MSAE she spent several years serving as their treasurer. She is an active member of the Institute for Managerial Accountants, the Chesapeake Professional Women's Network and the Daughters of the American Revolution.

Mary Connor
VP of Client Relations

Mary Connor has over 15 years of association management experience, and she is proficient in leadership and governance, financial management, program and membership development and marketing-communications. As a senior account executive, Mary specializes in association management transitions onboarding new clients for SMG.

Mary was the founder and president of an AMC, managing several national and regional trade associations ranging from industrial manufacturing/distribution, scientific, energy to professional societies. After the sale of her AMC, Mary became partner and COO in a marketing-communications company specializing in high-end visual communications for Fortune 500 companies.

Mary received a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration & Communication Arts from LaSalle University. She is a Qualified Association Specialist, is credentialed as a LEED Green Associate (U.S. Green Building Council) and is Six Sigma Lean/DFSS certified. She is a member of the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE) and the American Society for Quality and is active in several non-profit organizations, including Big Brothers Big Sisters and Green Building United.

Kathryn Davis, CEBS
Human Resources Manager

Kathryn (Kate) Davis serves as the Human Resources Manager for Stringfellow Management Group and is responsible for all areas of employee recruitment, engagement, personnel relations, performance management, payroll and benefits administration. In addition, she provides HR and payroll support for some of SMG’s clients.

Davis holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mathematics from Bard College, and is a Certified Employee Benefit Specialist (CEBS). She has over 5 years of experience working directly in HR management, in addition to handling accounting and payroll functions. Previously, she had several years of experience working in a consulting environment with retirement/employee benefit plans. She is a member of Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) and Chesapeake Human Resources Association (CHRA).

Kathleen A. DeMarco, CAE
Senior Account Executive

Kathleen A. (Kathy) DeMarco, CAE serves as the Executive Director for Generic Animal Drug Alliance (GADA), NASBITE International, and Web Sling and & Tie Down Association (WSTDA). She has worked in association management for nearly 30 years, encompassing advancing roles in project and program management, strategic planning and implementation, membership development and retention, budgeting and financial management, meeting and event logistics, and communications.

DeMarco holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications/Journalism and Public Relations from Temple University, and is a Certified Association Executive. Kathy also completed the Certificate Program in Association Management through ASAE University, and the Certificate in Industrial Distribution Program through Indiana University/Purdue University-Indianapolis. She is an active Member of ASAE-The Center for Association Leadership (ASAE) and the Pennsylvania Chapter of ASAE (PASAE). She has also served in leadership roles for the Association Education Alliance (AEA), the University of Industrial Distribution (UID) Steering Committee, and the Delaware Valley Society of Association Executives (DVSAE).

Dan Bond, CAE
Association Executive

Daniel (Dan) K. Bond, CAE serves as the President and Chief Executive Officer of the Synthetic Turf Council (STC). He has worked in association management for over nine years, encompassing roles in strategic planning and implementation, budgeting, member recruitment and retention, government affairs, program management and executive and member communications.

Bond earned his Master of Science in Management from The Catholic University of America and undergraduate degree in Political Science from Furman University. He holds the Certified Association Executive (CAE) credential. He also serves on multiple volunteer boards of directors and is an active member of ASAE: The Center for Association Leadership.

Kristen Philips, CAE
Association Executive

Kristen Philips, CAE, IOM serves as Executive Director for the American Institute of Floral Designers (AIFD) and the Chesapeake Human Resources Association (CHRA). She has worked in association management since 2005 with a focus on volunteer and leadership development, strategic planning and implementation, membership growth, meeting and conference planning, and budgeting.

Philips holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from The University of Baltimore, and is a Certified Association Executive. Kristen is a graduate of the Institute for Organization Management (IOM) at Villanova University and is an active member of ASAE.

Jennifer Thornton
Association Executive

Jennifer Thornton serves as the Executive Director of the National Resume Writers’ Association (NRWA), the Building Owners and Managers Association of Greater Baltimore (BOMA), and the DC Society of Human Resource Management (DC SHRM). She has more than 25 years of experience in association management and is a graduate of the Institute for Organization Management at the University of Delaware.

Thornton holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mass Communications with a concentration in public relations from Towson University. She is a former board member of the Maryland Society of Association Executives and has participated on several panels related to association and volunteer management.

 

Timothy McKenna, CAE
Association Executive

Tim McKenna serves as Executive Director for the Association for Corporate Growth Maryland Chapter (AGC), Maryland Chiropractic Association (MCA), the Maryland Criminal Defense Attorneys’ Association (MCDAA) and the Maryland Chapter of the Appraisal Institute (MDAI).

He earned his Certified Association Executive (CAE) designation from the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE) in 2012. He is also a 2010 graduate of the Institute for Organization Management (IOM). McKenna has a Bachelor of Arts in English from the University of Baltimore.

Samantha Devine
Association Executive

Samantha (Sam) Devine serves as Executive Director for the International Association of Clinical Research Nurses (IACRN) and Associate Director for the American Sports Builders Association, and the Wood Machinery Manufacturers of America. She has over six years of experience in association management serving trade associations with a focus on leadership development, member recruitment and retention, marketing strategy, website design, and program management.

Stephanie Bruno
Association Executive

Stephanie Bruno serves as Executive Director for the Professional Grounds Management Society (PGMS) and Associate Director for the American Institute of Floral Designers (AIFD). She has extensive experience in association management serving trade associations in membership management, conference planning, and organizational development.

Bruno holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in International Relations from the University of Delaware and currently serves on the Girls on the Run Fundraising Committee and is a Young Professionals Member of ASAE. In 2015 she completed the ASAE Certificate Program in Association Management.

Diane Schafer, CMP
Director of Meetings

Diane Schafer, CMP is Director of Meetings for Wood Machinery Manufacturers of America (WMMA), NASBITE International, and Management Association of Private Photogrammetric Surveyors. She is responsible for all aspects of planning association meetings and conventions, along with member services.

Schafer is a Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) as awarded by the Events Industry Council and holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Shippensburg University in Shippensburg, PA. Throughout her over twenty years in the industry she has planned successful events in both domestic and international locales for clients across various disciplines through professional foresight and attention to detail. Schafer is a member of the Professional Convention Management Association (PCMA), the Baltimore Alumnae Chapter of Phi Sigma Sigma, and has served on the Board of Directors for the PCMA Chesapeake Chapter.

Cynthia Sanchez
Director of Meetings & Membership Services

Cynthia Sanchez serves as Director of Meetings and Membership Services for the American Sports Builders Association (ASBA), Equipment Service Association (ESA) and Web Sling & Tie Down Association (WSTDA). Sanchez handles all aspects for planning and coordinating ASBA's Technical Meeting and Winter Meeting; ESA's Annual and Fall Technical meetings; and WSTDA's Annual and Fall Meetings. She is responsible for administering certification programs for ASBA: Certified Tennis Court Builders, Certified Track Builders and Certified Field Builders.

Sanchez is a 2002 graduate of the Institutes for Organization Management; has served on the Board of Directors for the Maryland Society of Association Executives, and served in the US Navy from 1989-2002 on the USS Hunley (AS-31).

Mary Skudzinskas
Accounting Manager

Mary Skudzinskas, Accounting Manager of SMG’s Financial Management Team, works with Director of Finance, Amy Chetelat, in performing the daily accounting operations and financial activities for SMG and its client associations.

She earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting from Loyola University Maryland. She has over 15 years of experience in all facets of corporate accounting. This includes financial statement preparation, budgeting and financial analysis.

Amie Goscinski
Director of Communications & Marketing

Amie Goscinski, Director of Communications & Marketing, leads public relations activity, client-to-market strategies, promotional opportunities and digital campaigns for SMG and its client associations.

Goscinski holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mass Communications from Towson University. She brings over 20 years of marketing, advertising and media experience to SMG. Goscinski has participated in WICT (Women in Cable Telecommunications) and is a graduate of the NBC Universal/ Comcast Women in Leadership (WIL) program.
